At Schoology, I was blessed to work with a talented group of fellow product designers. But even the strongest designers have aspects of UX that they are better at than others. Since I am a strong user researcher, I created Research Kits to give my teammates asynchronous guidance while planning and executing research for their projects.
These research kits provided a step-by-step process on articulating research questions, selecting appropriate research methodology (for example, unmoderated vs moderated), a template for annotating qualitative data from interviews, and a template for sharing research findings.
As a result, our design team integrated more self-service user research into the design process, leading to more data-informed design decisions.
